How our online writing center helps students struggling with writing
The importance of developing writing skills in high school
Is your student struggling with writing? Would they rather write a text than a research paper? Learning how to write well is hard. But, it is one of the most important skills to learn. In order to be good communicators, students must be good writers. Writing teaches students not only how to think for themselves but also how to communicate those thoughts.
Since writing skills are so important, it is crucial for students to develop solid writing skills in high school. Not only is this true for English courses, but also for social studies courses as well. These courses ask students to write clearly, and often, and to support their thoughts with strong evidence.
To enter the best colleges, students must write well. Admission essays are an essential part of the college application process.
Furthermore, to have success in college courses students must be strong writers. Unless students have developed their communication and critical thinking skills, they will struggle in their college-level classes.
Students who write well land more jobs
Quality writing is necessary for many of today’s jobs. A 2015 survey by the Association of American Colleges and Universities found that strong written communication is one of the most valuable skills that employers are looking for. For example, 91 percent of employers believed that clear communication was more important than a candidate’s undergraduate major.
